Keith has recently joined APEM from Sweco and brings over 20 years of terrestrial consultancy experience.

As you would expect, Keith is a seasoned professional when it comes to all the acronyms – EIAs (Environmental Impact Assessments), HRAs (Habitat Regulation Assessments) and DCOs (Development Consent Orders) to name just a few!

His experience covers everything from housing developments through to large infrastructure projects, including recent highways work on the A47 – managing the ecology teams’ delivery of five projects across East Anglia.

Keith’s career started with research and assisting with PhDs, although he was never tempted to do one himself! This work included a project in Madagascar surveying bats. He then went on to set up a small consultancy in Northern Ireland.

Over the last 20 years, he’s worked throughout all the countries of the UK and is currently based in Edinburgh where APEM has an office.

APEM’s terrestrial offering is still in its infancy, and it is Keith’s ambition to build a cohesive team expanding on the current successes and enhancing our delivery throughout the UK. No stranger to building and managing teams, Keith tripled the size of his team in his last role, and it is an area that he relishes.

An active member of CIEEM, Keith has been involved with the professional standards committee for the last 4 years, having previously chaired the membership committee.

In his spare time, Keith is a keen hill walker and mountain biker and took up running during the events of the last 18 months, which was handy when travelling for work. He holds a season ticket for Murrayfield and is a huge rugby union fan.

On joining APEM, Keith says: “This is a very exciting time to join the business, with lots of opportunities for growth in both services and clients. I’m really excited to come onboard and drive the development of APEM’s terrestrial ecology offering, growing the team and building on the recent success.”

The Terrestrial Ecology team at APEM was further strengthened earlier this year with the arrival of Associate Director Jill Simpson and we look forward to seeing our scope of services and reach increase, delivering the highest quality of service to both existing and new clients throughout the UK.
