APEM offer scientifically robust, statistically based survey design to fit the requirements of our clients. In conjunction with our niche specialist teams, we undertake regular sampling and monitoring for ongoing projects.

  • Environmental impact assessments, including fish population surveys in freshwater, estuarine and offshore environments using all contemporary survey methods

Our fisheries science and management experience

  • Researching and writing a guidance manual on restoring salmon habitats in UK rivers for the Environment Agency
  • Carrying out a long-term assessment of the impact of drinking water abstractions on fish populations in the River Dee, a study jointly commissioned by three water companies
  • Undertaking quarterly fish surveys of the upper Mersey Estuary for seven years to evaluate the potential impact of the major new bridge crossing
  • Carrying out a detailed study of the potential impact of a major water resources development on coarse fish populations in the River Thames
  • Completing a study for Dwr Cymru Welsh Water on the potential for using an acoustic behavioural deterrent for the protection of the young of the twaite shad species at water intakes
