Meet James Winterbottom, Director of Mergers and Acquisitions

James’s key responsibilities are to look for acquisition opportunities in new and existing sectors and geographies, including supporting the Group’s moves into offshore wind in the United States and Australia. Keen to continue the successful M&A strategy of the business, James is exploring key scientific specialities, and looking to develop the Group’s international reach.

A champion of sustainable investments throughout his career, James focusses not only on returns for investors and stakeholders, but on businesses that make a positive environmental and social impact. James believes the key to success is in strong relationships:

James’s career highlights:

• 15 years as a senior investment director
• Over 30 transactions completed, covering private equity investment, debt, integrated finance, acquisitions and mergers
• Extensive main board experience including environmental consultancy, energy and infrastructure, with a focus on value creation and building shareholder value
• A track record of driving profitable growth, covering international and service expansion, operational improvements and M&A including strategic purchases and buy & build
